Measurement
The Model Editor has built-in measurement tools for reading coordinates, distances, and areas in model space.
Note: Measurement data is kept only while the editor is open. Closing it clears the measurement history.
Measurement Types
Coordinate
Reads the absolute coordinate (X, Y, Z) of a point in the scene.
How to use: Click "Coordinates" in the toolbar → click a target point on the model surface → the values appear
Note: Before using Coordinates, the system checks that every model in the scene has RTK data. All models need RTK data for this to work.
Distance
Measures the straight-line distance between two points.
How to use:
- Click "Distance"
- Click the first point
- Move the cursor; the distance updates in real time
- Click the second point to finish
Area
Measures the area of a closed polygon region.
How to use:
- Click "Area"
- Click points in order (at least 3)
- Click the start point to close, or double-click to finish
Note: The result shows only the area; hovering over a segment shows that segment's length.
Snapping Aids
Surface snapping
When measurement is on, the cursor becomes a crosshair with a patch that snaps to the model surface. On by default.
Use case: Keeps measurement points precisely on the model surface, avoiding stray clicks in empty space.
Drag to adjust
Distance and area measurements let you drag an existing point to reposition it; the result updates in real time.
Use case: When a point isn't precise enough, drag to fine-tune instead of remeasuring.
Delete a Measurement
Hover over a result; a delete icon appears below it. Click to delete that measurement.
